Mothers Against Drunk Driving

Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) is a nonprofit organization in the United States and Canada that seeks to stop drunk driving, support those affected by drunk driving, prevent underage drinking, and overall push for stricter alcohol policy. The Irving, Texas–based organization was founded in 1980 in California by Candace Lightner after her 13-year-old daughter was killed by a drunk driver. There is at least one MADD office in every state in the United States, 〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.madd.org/local-offices/index-1.html )〕 and at least one in each province in Canada.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://madd.ca/pages/about-us/what-we-do/who-is-madd-canada/ )〕 These offices offer victim services and many resources involving alcohol safety. MADD claims that drunk driving has been cut in half since their founding.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=MADD - VOCA Funding )

* Helping victims of drunk driving (this includes family members and other loved ones of both innocent victims and guilty impaired drivers)
* Maintaining the minimum legal drinking age at 21 years
* Mandating alcohol breath-testing ignition interlock devices (IIDs) for everyone convicted of driving while legally impaired
